Counselling & Psychotherapy

Counselling is a method used to help resolve emotional, psychological and relationship issues.

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a form of therapy that may involve talking about life events, feelings, emotions, relationships, ways of thinking and patterns of behaviour. Over a series of formal sessions in a safe and private environment a client will talk about their issues and feelings.. The therapist will listen, encourage and empathise, whilst challenging the client at times to help them to see their issues more clearly or from a different perspective.

The aim of counselling is to greater understand our own complex and ever-changing network of thoughts, emotions, and filters of perception. Through reflection and being gently challenged, our actions become more conscious, not just habitual reactions. This exploration of our inner selves and our relationships, allows us the possibility of change, despite the challenges and hurdles of our past.

What to expect from a counselling session?

The initial session will include an assessment to gauge your individual needs. In sharing some of your background and the issues which have prompted you to seek help. While our practitioner learns more about you, you will also get a feel for them and how they work as a therapist.

We offer both short-term and open ended therapy and your counsellor will discuss which would best suit your needs during the initial assessment.

In future sessions, you may choose to explore issues that you feel are relevant and potentially holding you back from a more fulfilled life.
